Although it may seem that we are talking about an almost extinct disease or that it only occurs in animals, the truth is that scabies continues to affect millions of people today. Luckily, the aloe vera it is a very effective remedy to combat this nasty parasite.

Aloe vera is one of the most used plants in medicine for its countless benefits. Its properties include relieving and curing skin diseases, which is why if you suffer from scabies, aloe vera can become your best ally.

First of all, we are going to know all the ins and outs of this disease and then know how to combat it through the use of aloe vera. Go for it!

What is scabies?

Human scabies in humans is caused by Sarcoptes Scabiei. These mites develop tunnels in the skin where they lay their eggs, causing intense itching and rashes. This itching is caused by the body's allergic reaction to mites and their droppings. Being microscopic in size, it is very difficult to kill them.

Symptoms include: Severe itching, most often at night, skin rash, often between the fingers and toes, the bottom of the wrists, armpits, genitals and buttocks. They can also cause ulcers on the skin from scratching and digging. Occasionally it can also occur on the neck or face, but it is not common.

What are the causes of scabies?

Scabies spreads through contact with people who already have it or through contact with contaminated objects..

These are the most common causes of scabies or scabies:

  • Living with a person infected by the mite. Family members or roommates are always the first to be infected.
  • Sexual relations are the most common cause of infection. If you have relationships with a person with scabies, it is likely that you also have it.
  • Having previously suffered from scabies as it can reappear.
  • Very busy places. Nursing homes, military barracks, camps or prisons are places where getting infected is relatively easy. Children or the elderly are more likely to suffer from it because they usually have a weaker immune system.
  • Although less common, objects used by infected people can also transmit scabies but only if they have been used immediately before.

Symptoms of scabies

The first symptoms are often confused with other skin conditions since it is difficult to distinguish this infection from others such as eczema or insect bites with the naked eye. Of course, if the symptoms described below sound familiar to you, it may be that the mite has knocked on your door:

  • Intense itching that increases at night.
  • Red scabs or bumps.
  • Furrows in the skin.
  • Skin rash in the folds.

How to prevent scabies?

  • Avoid contact with infected people.
  • Increase hygiene at home. Wash objects such as sheets, towels or rugs at high temperatures. Then dry properly.
  • Ventilate the rooms.
  • Keep nails short and clean.
  • Maintain good hygiene.

Scabies treatment

To tackle the problem as soon as possible, it is advisable to go to your doctor's office. This will suggest an appropriate treatment to eliminate the parasite and relieve the itching.

scabies can last several weeks or even months, especially if treatment is not sought immediately. When someone gets scabies for the first time, it takes a while for symptoms to appear. Scabies is treatable, but it can take up to four weeks for all symptoms to disappear.

This disease does not cure itself so we are going to give you some tips to treat it:

Permethrin cream is the most used treatment. It is applied to the entire skin surface, mainly in the folds. Some medications such as oral antihistamines and corticosteroids are also very useful to relieve symptoms but they will not eliminate the mites or eggs.

Other options are benzyl benzoate, which is applied at night to the infected area, Ivermectin and sulfur with Vaseline. The latter is used especially with children and pregnant women.

Aloe vera for scabies is another great decision if we want an option that, without losing efficacy, is more natural than the previous ones. Of course, it is compatible with all of them. Next we are going to develop the key points of this treatment.

Aloe vera is a medicinal plant that has properties that combat the microorganisms that cause this disease. It is also anti-inflammatory so it reduces inflammation and intense itching. It's such a relief!

How to apply aloe vera for scabies?

You have two options:

  1. If you have an Aloe vera plant at home you can prepare your own remedy.

Cut a fresh leaf and proceed to extract the gel from inside and apply it to the affected part of your body. Then you will just have to let the skin absorb it and repeat the process every day until the swelling disappears.

For cases in which the infection is already advanced, it may be interesting to mix two tablespoons of aloe vera with calendula petals. This plant native to the Mediterranean and Southern Europe considerably increases the potency of aloe vera.

As a result of this mixture, a paste will be created that, applied to the affected area and rinsed with water at room temperature, will have very positive effects. It is especially useful for ending blisters and sores.

  1. Don't you have Aloe vera at home or do you lack time to prepare it? There is a much simpler option and that is to use 100% natural aloe vera oils and creams already prepared. These products, in addition to being interesting for their origin, have very positive effects on the skin.

Its mode of use will depend on each oil or cream and therefore it should be consulted on its packaging, but in general the product is applied to the area where the redness is found and it is left to act for between half an hour and XNUMX minutes. To finish, it is rinsed with cold water.

It is very important to know what products we are going to use since not all of them are valid. Some products sold in non-specialized stores do not contain much aloe vera. It is worth spending a little time and educating yourself about the product.

  • The onion! These vegetables contain a sulfur that is very effective in eliminating the parasite. In addition, its skin contains quercetin, a palliative that considerably relieves itching.

The simplest and most popular way is to boil several onions. They are then allowed to cool until the water is lukewarm and applied to the infected area.

  • The rosemary. This plant helps reduce pain and itching quickly. It is recommended to prepare a tea and, once made, apply it to the area of skin in question using cotton balls.
  • Turmeric. Turmeric, native to India, has been used medicinally for centuries.

Your application is very simple. You just have to make a paste with it and apply it to the area in question.

  • Pumpkins are another very interesting treatment due to their antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. It must go through the blender and extract the juice. It is recommended to drink this bitter liquid at least once a day.
  • Unless you have slightly sensitive skin, cayenne pepper can be used with complete peace of mind. This aggressive method of curing scabies will burn off the mites with noticeable results. Not suitable for everyone!

You should fill a bathtub and add a cup of this type of pepper. Then you have to come into contact with the water and rinse afterwards. It is very important that it does not touch the eyes because it can irritate them.
