Aloe Vera, also known as aloe vera, is a plant that has been used since ancient times. Civilizations such as the Romans and the Egyptians used it regularly in their daily lives due to the numerous properties attributed to it. Nowadays it is making its way into our daily lives but we have to know how to use it.

This plant, of which around 300 different types are known, has one variant in particular that stands out from the rest. Its name is Barbadensis Miller and it is the most used variant in cosmetics and wellness products.

Have you heard about the wonderful properties of aloe vera but can't think of how to benefit from them? Do you want to learn some different uses for aloe vera? Would you like to prepare home remedies with aloe vera and others with aloe vera gel? You're in luck because here you can learn everything you need about aloe vera, how to use it, and even how to make aloe vera oils at home.

What is aloe vera oil?

Aloe vera oil is obtained from a mixture of this plant and any type of oil that we want to use. The choice of oil will depend on the use that we are going to give to said mixture since each oil has different properties.

100% aloe vera oil does not exist since this silver does not generate any oily substance, therefore, we will always need the help of other oils such as olive or almond oil, among others.

To manufacture Aloe Vera products we must extract the inner part of the leaf. This internal part, which is where all the properties of the plant are concentrated, has a viscous and gelatinous texture. If we separate the bark from the inner part of Aloe vera we can see the absence of color in it, making it completely transparent to the naked eye.

Uses of Aloe vera oil

As we have mentioned previously, the combination of aloe vera with other oils is fantastic because it combines the properties of aloe vera with those of the oils with which it is mixed. The benefits of aloe vera are numerous and that is why it can be a good help against:

  • Acne
  • Spots on the skin
  • Dermatitis
  • Rheumatism, arthritis and osteoarthritis
  • Eczema and psoriasis
  • Insect bites
  • Stretch marks
  • Tired legs
  • Ulcers
  • Gastritis
  • Indigestion
  • Hair and scalp care

Depending on the oil with which we mix Aloe vera, we will use it for the different conditions that we have mentioned.

Oils with which we can mix Aloe vera

Olive oil. This oil for everyday use has moisturizing, regenerative and soothing properties, so the combination of both will serve to:

  • Hydration and nutrition. The properties of aloe vera for the skin are extremely beneficial, so aloe vera oil will help us prevent aging and alleviate its symptoms. In this way, it can be used, for example, as an eye contour.
  • Repair damaged hair. Moisturizing hair with aloe vera and olive oil helps us repair dry or brittle hair and prevent split ends. We can apply this mixture to our hair, let it sit for a few minutes and then wash it. We can also use it as a treatment for split ends. We apply a few drops from the middle to the ends after washing our hair and in a few days it will look shiny and healthy.

Almonds oil. The soothing and nourishing properties of this oil along with aloe vera make it perfect for hiding stretch marks and reducing skin blemishes. It can be applied to sensitive or irritated skin and used for massage.

Rosehip oil. This oil is nourishing, regenerative and healing. The combination of aloe vera together with this oil is a perfect treatment to calm the skin after hair removal or sun exposure. Therefore, it can be used as an after-sun or as a moisturizing body oil for daily use. In addition, it helps to hide and prevent the appearance of stretch marks.

Rosemary oil. Rosemary has calming and anti-inflammatory properties, so it is widely used in massages. Mixed with aloe vera it becomes a perfect oil to treat injuries and muscle pain.

Argan oil. It is a very moisturizing oily substance. Oil with aloe vera and argan can help us eliminate dry scalp. In addition, it will be very useful to prevent hair loss, strengthen and repair it.

jojoba oil This oil alone has the ability to maintain hydration and eliminate oil, therefore, aloe vera and jojoba oil gives very good results on oily skin. It is also a perfect remedy to combat dandruff and flaking of the scalp, as well as excess sebum that it may have.

Tea tree oil. It is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and stops the appearance of sebum on the skin and hair. However, it can be somewhat abrasive if we apply it directly to the skin. This, added to the intense smell it has, can be somewhat unpleasant. Therefore, it is advisable to reduce tea tree oil with aloe vera for acne. Together they also form a perfect combination to treat other problems such as herpes or warts.

If what we want is an oil for massage or aromatherapy, we must use Aloe vera oil together with natural essences.

It is very important to highlight that before buying or manufacturing our remedy we must ensure the origin of the ingredients. That is to say, natural and ecological aloe vera is much more effective than that which has been treated with artificial products that can affect our health. The same goes for the rest of the ingredients. For example, in the case of olive oil, extra virgin oil will not have the same effectiveness as one that is not pure. In Ibizaloe we only offer you aloe vera products of the best quality. In our plantation we only use natural components that we grow in an ecological and sustainable way.

How to make homemade aloe vera oil?

Practically everyone already has an aloe vera plant at home and if you don't have one yet, you surely know someone who has one.

The use of this plant has been spreading so that it is very normal to see one on every balcony of every house or know someone who has it, and of course, uses it!

Below we give you some instructions so that you can prepare aloe vera oil yourself at home for your own home remedies with aloe vera.

Aloe vera and ginger oil

Aloe vera for hair is extremely beneficial. Its moisturizing properties are great for the ends and help us maintain strong, healthy and shiny hair. Take notes on how to make this aloe vera oil for hair. You will need to:

  • Aloe Vera leaves
  • Ginger root
  • A stick of vanilla or cinnamon
  • Extra virgin olive oil

We put the oil in a pot or pan over very low heat. We open the aloe vera leaves and extract the pulp with a spoon. Cut the ginger into pieces and add all the ingredients to the warm oil. We add a stick of cinnamon or vanilla to give the mixture a good smell.

It is important that the temperature of the oil is not too high to prevent the ingredients in our home remedy for split ends from burning. When we have removed the mixture from the heat and it is warm, strain the oil and pour it into a container. The most comfortable way to apply it is with a spray. This aloe vera hair treatment is perfect to apply after a shower.

Oil with aloe vera gel and rosehip for massages

Many people prepare their body oils by adding pure aloe vera gel. Below we detail a perfect mix of ingredients so that you can get an oil that contains aloe vera:

  • 200 ml of sweet almond oil
  • 20 ml of pure or 99% aloe vera gel
  • 5 ml rosehip oil

This combination is ideal for therapeutic or relaxing massages. In the second case, we can add a few drops of the desired essence to intensify the experience. It will also be very useful to hide and prevent stretch marks in areas such as the buttocks or the chest.

In this video you can see other examples on how to prepare your own home remedies with aloe vera.
