We are increasingly accustomed to hearing words like “Bio”, “Eco”, “Natural”, “Organic” or “traditional” to refer to foods classified as healthy or natural. Below you will learn what exactly Organic foods are, how to identify them and why they will benefit you.
You can find some of these products by doing click here..

What are Organic foods?

According to WHO (World Health Organization) Organic foods are those produced in a sustainable and traditional manner. No chemicals are used to genetically modify them.
They are foods classified as organic where no artificial elements are used during their production. We can say that it is a type of organic farming, in which seeds are sown and made to grow naturally, organic fertilizer.

In the case of livestock, hormones or industrial feed are not included or applied, to let the animal grow in the open air and feed naturally. As we should expect, the classification of Organic foods has this same connotation.
We can identify this type of food by knowing the type of production that has been carried out where it will normally have a label called “eco” to indicate that it is a form of ecological and natural product.

Differences between Bio, Eco, and Organic foods

Foods Biography They are those that are totally natural and have a production process free of chemical or industrial agents. Many of these foods are accompanied by the “eco” label, thus showing that both their ingredients and their production have been made naturally.

In this way, we can say that this type of food refers to the origin of totally organic agriculture, which is based on the law and which many Spaniards are focusing on every day. According to what is established in the regulations of Spain, organic or Bio foods come from a source of ecological agriculture and for this reason its identification stamp.

Are organic foods healthier?

organic foodBio or organic foods are exactly the same as non-organic foods. So, What is the difference?

Studies have shown that the nutritional value of foods and products does not vary greatly. The only difference between both types of food is the use of chemical agents when growing them, in the case of vegetables, etc., or when feeding them, if we talk about animals.

Despite the good intention of organic products, it is concluded that They are neither healthier nor more ecological. They are simply based on the classification established in the law to determine and identify organic foods where chemical agents can cause harm to certain organisms.
This conclusion is based on the fact that organic farming still does not have conclusive evidence that demonstrates its high degree of benefit for the body. Only, a healthy lifestyle is promoted by reducing the amount of food produced by chemicals.

Bio food classification

Now that we know what Organic foods are and why they have this name, we must know how they are qualified or determined which ones to include and which ones not to include.
This has to do with the status in European law. The law establishes that all those Foods grown with natural fertilizers, without the use of chemical pesticides and without genetic modification are properly classified as “eco” or “Bio”.
For its cultivation and maintenance, natural fertilizers must be used and the facilities must be appropriate for biodynamic development of the crop. On the floor mineral or nitrogenous fertilizers cannot be used Well, it could lose the “Eco” seal.

Ecological Seal

Once the quality of a food crop has been determined, the law establishes that the food can bear its organic seal. This is done through an Organic Agriculture Committee, where the seal is certified and the organic products are produced.

After foods have been classified as organic and obtained their seal, then they can go to the market for consumption.
Therefore, the name of a “organic” product has to do with synonyms used in the law regulations, and does not have any identification difference related to food.

Other names are also used to distinguish this type of food with identification labels or stamps with the words “obtained without the use of chemical agents”, “biodynamic” or “organic”. These words are accompanied by the name of the product or the trademark, and thus we identify natural products.
